For when you feel

⚡ Stressed

Deadlines, pressure, too much at once.

Qur'an · Ash-Sharh 94:5–8

“For indeed, with hardship [will be] ease. Indeed, with hardship [will be] ease. So when you have finished [your duties], then stand up [for worship]. And to your Lord direct [your] longing.”

Saheeh International translation

Explanation · Al-Mukhtasar

5.Indeed, with difficulty and constraint, comes ease and options.

6.Indeed, with difficulty and constraint, comes ease and options; when you know that well, the troubling of your people will not terrify you and will not stop you from calling towards Allah.

7.So when you finish your work and complete it, strive in the worship of your Lord.

8.And divert your passion and resolve towards Allah alone.

Reflection

Relief is promised twice, then a method: when one task is done, stand for the next, and keep your longing pointed at your Lord rather than at the finish line.

Qur'an · Taa-Haa 20:25–26

“[Moses] said, "My Lord, expand for me my breast [with assurance] And ease for me my task”

Saheeh International translation

Explanation · Al-Mukhtasar

25.Moses (peace be upon him) said: Lord, expand my breast for me so that I can bear the difficulty.

26.Make my task easy.

Reflection

Musa's supplication before facing Pharaoh: expand my chest, ease my task. It is the supplication of someone with a hard assignment, not someone avoiding one.

Qur'an · Al-Baqara 2:45

“And seek help through patience and prayer, and indeed, it is difficult except for the humbly submissive [to Allah]”

Saheeh International translation

Explanation · Al-Mukhtasar

Ask for help in sacred and worldly affairs, with patience and prayer, which bring you close to Allah and allow you to reach Him, so that He will help you, protect you and take away your difficulties. Prayer is a hardship except for those who are humble to their Lord.

Reflection

Patience and prayer are given as tools, not consolation. Five short pauses a day, structured, is a stress protocol older than any productivity method.

Hadith · Sahih al-Bukhari 39

Sahih

Narrated Abu Huraira

The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "Religion is very easy and whoever overburdens himself in his religion will not be able to continue in that way. So you should not be extremists, but try to be near to perfection and receive the good tidings that you will be rewarded; and gain strength by worshipping in the mornings, the afternoons, and during the last hours of the nights." (See Fath-ul-Bari, Page 102, Vol)

Reflection

Religion is ease; whoever makes it hard on himself will not last. The hadith prescribes moderation and steady effort in the morning, afternoon and part of the night, a rhythm, not a sprint.

Hadith · Sahih al-Bukhari 6462

Sahih

Narrated `Aisha

The most beloved action to Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) was that whose doer did it continuously and regularly

Reflection

The deeds Allah loves most are the small, regular ones. Apply it to work too: consistency beats heroics, and you are allowed to stop for the day.

A supplication for this

Rabbi-shrah li sadri wa yassir li amri

My Lord, expand for me my chest and ease for me my task.
