Qur'an · Al-Fajr 89:27–30

“[To the righteous it will be said], "O reassured soul, Return to your Lord, well-pleased and pleasing [to Him], And enter among My [righteous] servants And enter My Paradise.”

Saheeh International translation

Explanation · Al-Mukhtasar

27.After Allah mentioned the requital of the disbelievers, He mentions the requital of the believers. He says: As for the soul of the believer, it will be told at the time of death and on the Day of Judgement: “O the soul contented with faith and good deeds!”

28.“Return to your Lord, pleased with Him because of the abundant reward you will receive, and with Him may He be glorified being pleased with you because of your good deeds.”

29.“Now enter along with My pious servants.”

30.“And enter with them into My Paradise, which I have prepared for them.”

Reflection

The soul at peace is called home, pleased and pleasing. Contentment now is a rehearsal for that call.

Qur'an · Yunus 10:62–63

“Unquestionably, [for] the allies of Allah there will be no fear concerning them, nor will they grieve Those who believed and were fearing Allah”

Saheeh International translation

Explanation · Al-Mukhtasar

62.The friends of Allah will not have any fear of the terrors to come on the Day of Rising and they will not grieve over the pleasures of the world that they missed.

63.The friends of Allah are those who possess the qualities of having faith in Allah and following His Messenger; they are mindful of Allah by fulfilling His instructions and avoiding His prohibitions.

Reflection

No fear and no grief for the close friends of Allah: those who believe and are mindful of Him. Calm is not a personality trait; it is a relationship.

Qur'an · Al-Ahzaab 33:3

“And rely upon Allah; and sufficient is Allah as Disposer of affairs.”

Saheeh International translation

Explanation · Al-Mukhtasar

And rely on Allah alone in all your affairs. And He is sufficient as a protector for those of His servants who trust in Him.

Reflection

Rely on Allah; He is enough as a manager of affairs. Peace comes from knowing who is in charge.

Hadith · Sahih al-Bukhari 6446

Sahih

Narrated Abu Huraira

The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "Wealth is not in having many possessions, but rather (true) wealth is feeling sufficiency in the soul

Reflection

Wealth is not having many possessions; wealth is the richness of the soul. On a contented day, you are the richest person you know.

Hadith · Sahih Muslim, Book 12, Hadith 163

Sahih

Amr b. al-'As reported Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) as saying

He Is successful who has accepted Islam, who has been provided with sufficient for his want and been made contented by Allah with what He has given him

Reflection

Successful is the one who accepted Islam, was given enough, and was made content with what Allah gave. Three things, and the third is the rarest.

Hadith · Sahih al-Bukhari 6502

Sahih

Narrated Abu Huraira

Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said, "Allah said, 'I will declare war against him who shows hostility to a pious worshipper of Mine. And the most beloved things with which My slave comes nearer to Me, is what I have enjoined upon him; and My slave keeps on coming closer to Me through performing Nawafil (praying or doing extra deeds besides what is obligatory) till I love him, so I become his sense of hearing with which he hears, and his sense of sight with which he sees, and his hand with which he grips, and his leg with which he walks; and if he asks Me, I will give him, and if he asks My protection (Refuge), I will protect him; (i.e. give him My Refuge) and I do not hesitate to do anything as I hesitate to take the soul of the believer, for he hates death, and I hate to disappoint him

Reflection

In this hadith qudsi, Allah says His servant keeps drawing near through voluntary deeds until He loves him. Use a calm day to add one small voluntary act; that is how nearness is built.
